SCORE trial

This trial is set out to study the difference between non-operative treatment of traumatic olecranon fractures and the commonly used operative treatment, either with tension band wiring or plate fixation, in elderly population. Our hypothesis is that non-operative treatment does not yield to inferior outcomes compared to operative treatment.

In Turku, patient recruitment has started in October 2020 and in Tampere in April 2021. Other participating centers are located in Helsinki, Oulu and Jyväskylä in Finland, and Linköping, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark.

We will recruit 68 patients in total. The primary outcome measure is the Disabilities of the Shoulder, Elbow and Hand (DASH) at one year.
